Point of view
The way a person may perceive, analyse and express his or her opinions is know as the ‘Point of view’. It is something that can change an entire perception of an idea or a story. Every person has a unique point of view.
In English writing, ‘point of view’ has special role to play. In general there are three basic ‘point of view’
- First person point of view
- Second person point of view
- Third person point of view
First person point of view:
First person point of view means that a person is talking about an event or incident which he has experienced personally. This point of view tell the story through the narrator’s own perspective.
Second person point of view:
Second person point of view means that the narrator is trying to engage with the reader by addressing him/her as ‘you’. through this point of view, a narrator conveys his ideas to the reader directly.
Third person point of view :
Third person point of view means the writer is using the other characters to connect to the reader. The characters go through different experiences and create a connection with the reader.
Using these ‘point of view’ in writing may assist create diversity in writing style. It will also develop the writing style and add creativity to the text.
