How many of you have asked yourself, can I write? or you must have asked sometimes in life to Mr. Google, tell me, how to improve writing skills?

There are so many queries searched through search engines to improve writing skills.

It happens!

What I believe every one of us can write…! But how?

Let me pose a simple question, which is very basic, how many times we write emails? Sometimes newsletters, chat messages? We conversate, we also have debates and point out the things we like and the things we do not.

If we organize every word we write well, can turn a simple piece of writing into something unique.

So how about organizing your scattered thoughts and give them a worth reading shape? Let me assist you, how?
Remember,

Benjamin Franklin once said,

“Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.”

In our current blog post, ‘How To Improve Writing Skills-A Few Tips’ let us briefly jot down a few simple steps and tips that can help you improve your writing skills.

At first,

Put Your Ideas On A Paper

How many of you aware of Eureka’s? This is the word used by Ron Holland, the author of the wonderful book, “Talk and Grow Rich”.

Eurekas, according to Ron, are the ideas that pop up in our minds every day, and these are countless. The unfortunate thing is we do not give them our words. So, keep with you a pen and paper. Whenever you get a smart idea or thought, write that idea on a paper. Give it a voice and let your mind work on it. There are thousands of thoughts that go unnoticed every day. Just think if we develop a habit of jotting down all the ideas, a few just if not all, there would not be a shortage of ideas in the world.

So the first thing in developing and improving your writing skills is to put your ideas on paper.

“Get it down. Take chances. It may be bad, but it is the only way you can do anything really good.” According to William Faulkner.

Reshape And Reorder Your Rambling Thoughts

Many of us have ideas and thoughts, but they are scattered and not in order. What you have to do is, reorder them and reshape them all. It will take a little time.

And with excessive practice, you will notice that you are well-trained to reorder your thoughts in the best way.

Talk About A Problem And Try Adding Solution

Without planning, you will not be able to organize your thoughts well. Before you draft the final copy, think about the problem you are going to discuss. Gather queries and questions of the people around, and come up with some solution to that problem which appeals. Not just writing for the sake of writing is a wise thing. The reader does not give a damn to scattered things around and to the things not giving them valuable information or solution of the problems. So remember to add value to your writing to avoid such things.

Cohesion And Coherence

These are a few technical terms. In simple words, written paragraphs should be relevant and must have a logical connection with each other. If you are talking about a query in one para, try not to put the other in the next one. First, answer your first query, give it a solution, and then move to other things.

Secondly, remember to link all paragraphs by linking words, these may be, Additionally, So, however, despite the fact, in the end, etc. These all are the joining words and play a significant role in developing a connection between the paragraphs.

Read At Your Maximum

Before you improve your writing capability, consider improving your reading capability along the way. The good writers are great readers as well. Reading at your maximum will help you with enhanced vocabulary items, catchy expressions, and it will add taste to your written excerpts. If you can read well, understand well, the chances are greater that you would reproduce well and write well. As per a famous quote, reading is like breathing in, and writing is like breathing out.

So charge yourself with the best reading you may have to be a recognized writer in the race.

Remember the words of Lisa See, Read a thousand books, and your words will flow like a river.

Try Focusing Editing More Than Writing

Do not worry if you have to write a single paragraph 100 times. Editing and proofreading will polish up your writing. The more you read your written excerpts, the better you will be near to make a perfect piece that stands out well.

According to Emma Hill, the first draft is black and white. Editing gives the story color.

The other important thing is if you ignore proofreading and editing, you are more prone to leave behind grammatical mistakes, typos, weak sentence structure, and punctuation mistakes that will ruin the otherwise great piece of your writing. Believe it or not, even the superb ideas lose their effectiveness in the presence of these flaws. So be more cautious if you want to improve your writing. These are super important things if you need enhanced reader attention.

There are lots of other things to assist you in improving your writing skills. Let us leave them to our upcoming blogs. Stay with us till then. Now, Let me conclude this all with the great words of Steve Jobs, the super formula not only for improving you as a writer but equally helpful for each walk of your life. Steve Once said,

The only way to do great work is to love what you do.

Forget not to add love to whatever activity you are doing. Without care, things will work the other way round. And will not be appreciated by your target audience.

Or you may take the words of Ann Frank as an inspiration for you, she says, I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn.
