As the largest awarding body in Wales, WJEC (Welsh Joint Education Committee) provides schools and colleges around the country with trusted bilingual qualifications, transparent expert support, and accurate evaluation. WJEC is still among the leading providers in both England and Northern Ireland, with more than 70 years of experience.
WJEC is now a registered charity and a corporation limited by guarantee, born out of a group of local education authorities in 1948. Its Executive Leadership Team, which is assisted by more than 350 committed personnel, including topic specialists and experienced teaching and learning practitioners leads our strategic direction and key decision-making.
WJEC have become the primary qualification provider for state-funded schools and colleges for most GCSE and AS/A level subjects following the implementation of reformed general qualifications in 2015. Consequently, it remains important that it provides the highest quality goods and services, including the Welsh-medium provision for all our qualifications.
