A Few Of The Best Teachers Of All Times

How many of you believe that a lackluster style of teaching is the killer thing for the learners?

Yes, it is to many extents!

The key things that matter are the environment, the student’s approach, and the medium of instruction. Similarly, it depends also on the role of the teacher equally.

The teacher plays a major part in the whole scheme of learning.

According to William Arthur Ward,

“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”

In today’s blog post “A few Of The Best Teachers Of All Times” let us bring to you the short biographies of the few great teachers, and some of their famous quotes.

The first and foremost in the list is,

Confucius

The most famous teacher, philosopher, and political theorist in China, whose ideas have deeply influenced China’s and other East Asian countries’ civilizations.

At the age of 30, he started teaching. There are more than 3,000 students of Confucius. Among these all, 70 are the most brilliant students of Confucius. In the Warring States era, his disciples and the early Confucian community they founded became the most influential intellectual force.

People around the globe still study and discuss the quotes and ideas presented by Confucius almost 2500 years ago.

A Few Quotes Of Confucius

Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart.

I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand.

Death and life have their determined appointments, riches and honors depend upon heaven.

Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.

Maria Montessori

Maria was a sterling student, optimistic, creative, and reluctant to be constrained by conventional women’s standards. She joined an all-boy technical institute at the age of 13 to train for a career in engineering.

She changed her mind in time, however, choosing instead to become a doctor. She applied for a medical program at Rome University but was refused. To better train her for admission to medical school, Maria took additional courses and persevered. She won entry with great effort, opening the door a little wider for potential women in the industry.

While, as noted by several of her biographers, she was not the first female medical school graduate, it does not detract from her achievement. She was an Italian physician, teacher, and innovator, acclaimed for her method of teaching, that draws on the natural way children learn. On January 6, 1907, in Rome, she opened the first Montessori academy, the Casa Dei Bambini, or Children’s Home.

She was among Italy’s first female doctors when she graduated from medical school in 1896.

A Few Quotes Of Maria Montessori

Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed.

The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, ’The children are now working as if I did not exist.’

One test of the correctness of educational procedure is. The happiness of the child.

If help and salvation are to come, they can only come from the children for the children are the makers of men.

Albert Einstein

Einstein was born on March 14, 1879, in Germany. Einstein grew up in a Jewish, secular household. His father, Hermann Einstein, was a salesman and engineer who founded the Munich-based company Elektrotechnische Fabrik J. Einstein & Cie, a mass-produced electrical equipment company, with his brother.

The family household was managed by Einstein’s mother, the former Pauline Koch. One sister was born to Einstein, Maja, two years after him. Einstein thought he would be a good teacher of mathematics and physics. He graduated as a teacher in 1900. He had a very difficult time finding a university teaching job. His ideas were so good that the Nobel Prize for Physics was awarded to him in 1921.

A Few Quotes Of Albert Einstein

The important thing isn’t to stop questioning…Curiosity has its reason for existing.

If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.

Life is like riding a bicycle, To keep your balance you must keep moving.

Two things are infinite, ’ the universe’ and ‘human stupidity’…and I’m not sure about the universe.

Rabindranath Tagore

The Bard of Bengal was born on May 7, 1861. Through his essays, poetry, and thoughts, Rabindranath Tagore influenced generations of people.

In Santiniketan, West Bengal, Rabindranath Tagore founded several schools and a university and was one of the most progressive educators of his time. He imagined a holistic education that was profoundly embedded but still linked to the broader world in one’s community and surroundings. Tagore has been a pioneer in intercultural understanding and peace education, respect and intimacy with nature, rural restoration and social participation, and creative skills and creativity education.

In numerous writings, his thoughts are dispersed. They can also be discovered in the educational institutions he created, which are living and increasing experiments, not following a scholastic approach.

His thoughts were also affected by the experiences of his youth that led him to perceive schools as prisons. The academic, creative, and highly progressive and liberal environment at home, after dropping out of school by 15, revealed to him how much fun and freedom learning could and should encompass.

A Few Quotes Of Rabindranath Tagore

Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark.

Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged of man.

Facts are many, but the truth is one.

Let your life lightly dance on the edges of Time like dew on the tip of a leaf.

Abdul Kalam

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, in full Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, Indian scientist and politician (born October 15, 1931, Rameswaram, India, died July 27, 2015, Shillong), who played a leading role in the production of the missile and nuclear weapons programs of India. From 2002 to 2007, he was president of India.

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam always used to say that as a teacher, he would like to be remembered. He did not compromise on his inclination for teaching when he became president in 2002. He grabbed every opportunity to teach students wherever he went, particularly kids. It was his passion to administer a pledge to the youth on national growth.

A few books were written by Mr. Kalam and Mr. Ponraj. Puyalai Thandinal Thendral,

Yennathil Nalam Irunthal Kanavu Tamilagam Malarum is the latest one in Tamil which was not completed.

A Few Quotes Of Abdul Kalam

To succeed in your mission, you must have single-minded devotion to your goal.

If you fail, never give up because FAIL means, “First Attempt In Learning”

Creativity is seeing the same thing but thinking differently

All of us do not have equal talent, But, all of us have an equal opportunity to develop our talents.

Pythagoras

One of the most prominent and controversial ancient Greek philosophers, Pythagoras, lived in Ca. 570 to around ca. From 490 BCE. He spent his early years on Samos Island, off modern Turkey’s coast. However, he emigrated to the city of Croton in southern Italy at the age of forty, and much of his intellectual activities took place there.

Pythagoras did not write anything, nor were there any detailed accounts written by colleagues of his thought. Also, in the first centuries BCE, it became popular to present Pythagoras as a semi-divine figure in a mostly unhistorical manner, who originated all that was true in the Greek philosophical tradition, including many of the mature ideas of Plato and Aristotle.

As his father, Mnesarchus, was an affluent merchant, he received a quality education. He may have trained in Babylon and Egypt and may have had the best tutors of the period in Greek. However, much of this is speculative, as the data comes from later writers who acknowledged what others wrote about him uncritically.

A Few Quotes Of Pythagoras

Do not say a little in many words, but a great deal in a few.

Silence is better than an unmeaning word.

Above all things, reverence yourself.

Concern should drive us into action and not into a depression. No man is free who cannot control himself.

Let me conclude my current blog with Henry B. Adams words, he says,  “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.”

Be thankful if you have wonderful teachers like the ones mentioned in our blog post. They are your real mentors, the guides, and the torchbearers in the darkest times of your lives.
